A new 6-foot wooden statue of George Floyd, unveiled in Flatbush on Juneteenth, has been vandalized overnight.

The sculpture, that sits on the corner of Nostrand and Flatbush Avenues, was found this morning with black graffiti on the face and the pedestal of the statue, and white lettering reading "Patriotfront.us," News 12 reports.

The statue has been covered and placed within barricades.

On Twitter, the NYPD Hate Crimes Unit said it was investigating.

Councilmember Farah Louis, who represents Flatbush, said her office was working with artist Chris Carnabuci, ConfrontART and the We Are Floyd Foundation to repair the damage "to this beautiful and moving work of public art."

"Let us be clear: this is a shameful act, a hate crime and totally disrespectful to the memory of Mr. Floyd and to the Black community as well our efforts to achieve racial justice and equality. And we will not be deterred."

She urged anyone with information to contact the NYPD.
