Some of New York City’s most inventive Shakespeare productions are happening far from Broadway — in a fifth-grade classroom in East Flatbush, Brooklyn.

Veteran elementary school teacher Marie Maignan has, for 15 years, quietly churned out top-notch interpretations of The Bard’s classics, complete with elaborate set designs, music, dance, poetry and hundreds of audience members — all with a cast of 10 and 11-year-old thespians.
