This summer, a toothbrush will be part of the basketball camp checklist, with Brooklyn Nets Basketball Academy (BNBA) offering its first-ever overnight camps.

The five-night camps and other day camps tip off of a partnership between BNBA and camp and experience provider ESF Camps, with the two organizations working together to build a year-round experience for local youth.

In August, basketball day camps will be held across the New York metropolitan area for boys and girls ages 6-14, and the five-night camps will be on offer for boys and girls ages 10-17.

The overnight camps will be held at Camp IHC in Equinunk, Pennsylvania, and will offer off-court activities including rock climbing, canoeing, ropes course, zip lining, lake trampoline, swimming and paddle boarding.

Both the day and overnight camps will focus on ball-handling, passing, offense, defense, shooting and rebounding skills to enhance their game. And campers may even catch a glimpse of Nets players, legends and coaches, who are scheduled to make surprise camp visits throughout the summer and year.

"Players practice the drills the pros use to perfect current skills and develop new ones. Our coaches will help players develop key techniques, on and off the court, by learning cutting edge skills in a fun, positive and competitive environment," Brooklyn Nets says on its website.

BSE Global SVP Mandy Gutmann said the Nets team was proud of the partnership, which would elevate and expand the youth basketball programs.

"ESF has a proven track record with award-winning camps and is regarded as one of the safest camp operators in the country. We are looking forward to working alongside them to grow the next generation of Brooklyn Nets fans."

ESF Camps & Experiences Co-founder and CEO Michael J. Rouse said ESF had extensive health and safety protocols that would allow the players to develop, "in a safe, fun and healthy setting."

"In a time when young athletes are craving interaction, game play and skill development, we are thrilled to help them return to the court in the safest environment possible," he said.

The overnight camps run from Aug. 15-20 and cost $1,495, and the day camps start at $575. All camps will run in full compliance with CDC and New York State COVID-19 guidelines, and due to increased health and safety protocols space is limited.
