This week, Michelin released its list of the 131 best cheap eats in New York.

The list, which hasn't been updated since the pandemic hit, included 30 new additions — of which 11 were in Brooklyn and five in BK Reader neighborhoods.

The main criteria for the list are that the food must be extremely tasty, and it must cost less than $40 for three courses. In 2020, there were 3,362 restaurants worldwide that held a Bib Gourmand award.

This year's newcomers include:

Chavela's -- Prospect Heights

"Ordering guacamole may be a reflex for many, but at Chavela's, what lands on the table is far from the norm. Mexico City native, Chef Arturo Leonar, is the brains behind this exceptional riff, which mixes smoked trout, pico de gallo, and morita chile salsa to thrilling effect," the guide says.

Gordo's Cantina -- Bushwick

"Chef Reyna Morales, who hails from Mexico City, skillfully prepares enticing Mexican cuisine," reviewers state.

For All Things Good -- Bed-Stuy

"Corn here takes on several incarnations. Triangle-shaped tetelas are stuffed with black beans and wrapped in hoja santa leaves while tlayudas are toppled with hen of the wood mushrooms and salsa macha," the guide states.

Rangoon -- Prospect Heights

"The delightful Burmese menu is limited to a handful of vibrant salads and soothing noodle and curries that reflect the country's cross-cultural cooking influenced by neighbors like China, Thailand and India" say reviewers.

Mao Mao -- Bushwick

"Real-deal Thai, with heat that verges on ferocious and flavoring that never ends. Fried chicken laab arrives with herbs while tilapia is dressed with an electrifying mix of lime, chili, and garlic," states the guide.

The list is a great way to plan low-key and delicious dinners across the borough, without breaking the bank. Here are all the restaurants in BK Reader neighborhoods that made the cut:

Bed Stuy

For All Things Good -- 343 Franklin Ave.

Mao Mao -- 1000 Broadway

Speedy Romeo -- 376 Classon Ave

Clinton Hill

Miss Ada -- 184 DeKalb Ave.

Bushwick

Roberta's -- 261 Moore St.

Win Son -- 159 Graham Ave.

Gordo's Cantina -- 140 St. Nicholas Ave.

Crown Heights

Chavela's -- 736 Franklin Ave.

Prospect Heights

Rangoon -- 500 Prospect Pl.

Maison Yaki -- 626 Vanderbilt Ave.

Flatbush

And although not in one of our neighborhoods, a special shout goes to Williamsburg's Francie, which was the only Brooklyn restaurant of the seven new One Michelin Star restaurants in NYC.

"Native New Yorker chef Chris Cipollone excels at balancing intriguing flavors and textures and his expertise on is on display in contemporary pasta dishes, his signature pithivier and the sauces that accompany each course," reviewers said of Francie.
