Traditional glass making, adornment crafting, sculpture building and postcard writing are just some of the things that will be on offer in Fort Greene this Saturday.
This weekend, Art 360/Fort Greene returns with the theme 'The Art Of ,' offering people of all ages the chance to test out their creativity with a range of activities around the neighborhood.
The event will run from 11:00am to 5:00pm and will include family fun activities at Cuyler Gore Park, a smart-phone enabled personalized tour of the neighborhood narrated by local historian Ron Janoff, public art exhibitions, performances and more.
Included in the exhibitions is Cubes In Color, an interactive exhibit by Brooklyn-born artist VooDo Fé. VooDo Fé and his organization The Art Gang study the effects colors have on stress, and Cubes In Color use stress-relieving colors and imagery to create an experiential piece.
Artist Steph Costello and Brooklyn youth organization BucketFam will be debuting their latest collaborative mural "Playground," a project that celebrates the life and energy of the Fort Greene neighborhood. You can watch live between 2:00-3:00pm as artists execute fresh artwork outside Ralph's on Portlant and Lafayette Avenues.
Other artists involved in the event include Katie Merz, Liz Maycox, Giselle Williams-Thomas, Johnny Camacho, Demetrius Felder, Jesse Novik and Sarah Tolin.
Shops in the FAB FULTON district are also holding 30-minute demonstrations to showcase their skills, be in perfecting cocktails or building the perfect terrarium.
In a press release, Art 306/Fort Greene said: "A cultural legacy of imaginative inspiration has been passed down from the many artists, writers, musicians and others who lived, worked, and played here; many have left their mark and influenced new generations of creatives, some of whom will adorn our lovely streetscape and storefronts to celebrate the season."
