Overnight Tuesday, Prospect Park had a number of trash cans overturned "in a significant act of vandalism" and Prospect Park Alliance is calling for volunteers to help with the clean up.
"Prospect Park Alliance was saddened by a significant act of vandalism in our park over night: all garbage receptacles throughout the park were overturned, with garbage strewn throughout Brooklyn's Backyard," the group said in a Facebook post. NYPD is currently investigating the incident, a spokesperson for the Alliance said.
The post said staff and community members were already cleaning up the situation, but more help was needed to get everything clean.
There is also a cleanup planned for Earth Day on Thursday, where Alliance staff will be at the Boathouse from 12:00pm until 4:00pm handing out trash grabbers.
