On Monday, NewYork-Presbyterian Brooklyn Methodist Hospital will officially open the Center for Community Health, a new ambulatory care center.

The six-story center located on 6th Street in Park Slope will be a one-stop destination for patients to receive individualized, coordinated care from diagnosis to treatment.

It is the first major ambulatory care facility built in Brooklyn in 40 years and the largest.

The center will offer ambulatory care services, including oncology, digestive, and endoscopy services, as well as an infusion center, ambulatory surgery, diagnostic imaging center, and more.

NewYork-Presbyterian President and CEO Dr. Steven J. Corwin said his team was dedicated to making world-class care more accessible, convenient and equitable in all the communities it served.

"The opening of the Center for Community Health is a reflection of that commitment," he said. "The COVID-19 pandemic has highlighted the need for high-quality care close to home, and we are so pleased to expand access to our care and open this incredible resource for Brooklyn, helping residents spend less time in the hospital and more time living their lives."

At the center, physicians from Weill Cornell Medicine will work together using cutting-edge technology to consider each patient holistically, whether they are being treated for digestive diseases, cardiovascular issues, cancer, or other conditions, or coming for outpatient surgery, interventional radiology, or diagnostic imaging, NewYork-Presbyterian said in a press release.

NewYork-Presbyterian Brooklyn Methodist Hospital President Robert Guimento said the hospital was committed to improving the health and well-being of the Brooklyn community, adding the center will give access to high-quality, innovative care, in one location.

"Focusing first and foremost on patients' needs and the delivery of outstanding care, this new building is designed for healing and represents the future of ambulatory care."

The center has been designed to create a healing and soothing environment, including greenery, natural and locally made art, to give patients a positive experience. The building's clinical features include 12 operating rooms for ambulatory surgery; six procedure rooms for outpatient endoscopy and special procedures; diagnostic imaging services; pre-anesthesia evaluation center; prep and recovery for ambulatory surgery; ambulatory infusion center with dedicated pharmacy and lab; clinical trials office; and multi-specialty medical and surgical practices.

There is also valet-staffed parking, a grab-and-go café, waiting lounges and a conference center accessible from the lobby.
