‘Very Much a Force for Good’: Brooklyn Artist Unconscious on Respirator After He’s Beaten With Bat by Crazed Panhandle

A Brooklyn artist who dedicated his life to beautifying his borough is on a life support — and has yet to regain consciousness — after being beaten with a bat by a panhandler on the same streets he worked to lift up.

Pierre Francillon was riding his bicycle in Prospect Lefferts Gardens when he stopped at a food truck near Flatbush and Parkside Aves., just a couple blocks fro Prospect Park, about 5:30 p.m. Wednesday. A beggar approached him for change — and beat him unconscious for turning him down.
