Photos: Brooklyn Takes to the Streets to Celebrate Biden Harris Victory

Brooklyn residents flooded streets and parks across the borough Saturday, dancing, popping bottles and revelling in the news of a Trump defeat

Brooklyn came to life like we haven't seen it in years with news Joe Biden has won the presidency the United States on Saturday.

Folks of all color and creed, old and young and everything in between took the streets and parks with palpable to joy to celebrate a much needed victory after four years under a polarizing, science-denying, racist and bigoted President Donald Trump.

From Prospect Park to McCarren Park, back to Fort Greene and on streets across the borough, bottles were popped, dancing blocked traffic and horns honked and arms waved in celebration and solidarity.

Much of the celebration also went to history making Vice President-elect Kamala Harris, who will be the first woman and first woman of color elected to the office in the history of the republic. Harris is the daughter of an Indian mother and Jamaican father and has reached heights no other woman has reached in public office in America.

Biden will be the 46th president of the country and will be tasked with leading it out of a global pandemic, economic instability and through the social divisions that are threatening to divide the country.

And although there is a rough road ahead getting Trump out of office, Saturday was a day of celebration to focus on brighter days ahead.
