Brooklyn — the countdown is well and truly on: There is just one more sleep until Election Day.
Over the past week, more than one million New York City residents took advantage of early voting, lining up at polling stations across the five boroughs and at times waiting for hours to get inside to vote.
In Brooklyn, 373,270 voters took the polls, the most of any borough, followed by Queens, where turnout was 250,083, according to NYC Board of Elections.
Now with early voting finished, there is just one more day to cast ballots in person — Election Day Tuesday Nov. 3. On Tuesday, polling sites will open from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m.

Monday is the last day to apply in person for an absentee ballot, and Tuesday Nov. 3 is the last day to postmark absentee ballots. You can also deliver absentee ballots in person until polls close at 9 p.m.
All polling sites will be requiring mask-wearing and social distancing, and voting machines will be regularly sanitized. Voters will be given a stylus pen to mark the electronic poll book and their ballot, that they can keep as a souvenir.

Even with the record number of early votes cast across the country, it is unlikely we will wake up knowing who our next president is Wednesday morning. With the expansion of mail-in voting due to the coronavirus pandemic votes will still be coming in for up to two weeks, and it has been predicted it will be more like an election week rather than election day.
Of course there are also local congressional, senate, judicial and other races to watch, and some of those races could be called faster than the presidential race.
On Election Day, BK Reader will be doing live coverage of the election on our site and social media, so you can stay up to date with us here.
