Eric Gonzalez is a lifer.
He has spent his entire career at the same office, and he still lives in the neighborhood where he grew up. Brooklyn's first Latino district attorney assumed the post after the 2016 death of Ken Thompson, who three years earlier had become the first African American elected to the office.
Gonzalez had served as chief assistant district attorney to Thompson, whose widow supported Gonzalez as the acting replacement.
