SCO Family of Service, a human services provider, received $500,000 in items from Burlington Stores Inc to distribute to families in Queens, Brooklyn and Long Island, SCO announced on Thursday.
The merchandise-- a total of 35,000 items-- was shipped to women and family shelters, foster care and family support programs, as a part of a partnership between the Burlington and national clothing distribution non-profit Delivering Good.
Twelve tractor trailers were loaded with merchandise ranging from household goods to clothing and bedding. On-site staff and volunteers sorted through the materials and matched essentials with the needs of the recipients.
"We are extremely thankful to Burlington Stores for making such a generous donation of goods that will benefit so many of the children and families we serve," said Keith Little, president and CEO of SCO Family of Services.
The SCO Family of Service has been delivering essential services to communities in need throughout New York City and Long Island for 125 years. Its mission is to help children get off to a good start, stabilize and strengthen families and unlock potential for children and adults with special needs.
