Joining the race for Manhattan borough president: N.Y. Sen. Brad Hoylman

The Democratic lawmaker plans to file paperwork Monday to enter the race to replace Manhattan Borough President Gale Brewer, joining a growing field of candidates that already includes a pair of term-limited city councilmen.

Hoylman, whose current district stretches from Midtown, through Chelsea down to the East Village, recently fended off his first primary challenge since joining the Senate in 2013.

But the 54-year-old is already looking to the future, confident his legislative experience has prepared him to fill Brewer’s shoes and help his home borough recover from the coronavirus pandemic.
