Last year, Mayor Bill de Blasio, the Department of Transportation (DOT), and Lyft announced a momentous five-year expansion of the City's successful Citi Bike program to double the size of the service area and increase the system fleet to 40,000 bikes.

Since the program launched in 2013, New Yorkers and visitors from around the world have turned to Citi Bike millions of times as a fast, healthy, and affordable transportation alternative.
