Broadway Stages, a production company based in Greenpoint, is one of many Brooklyn companies helping their community amid COVID-19.

The company which operates several television and film stages throughout Brooklyn has chosen to lease its East New York space to The Campaign Against Hunger for three months, reports The Brooklyn Paper. Under a pro-bono lease, the campaign group can finally have more space to provide to thousands of hungry New Yorkers.

"Their operations have become so robust, that without Broadway Stages, a lot of what they're doing wouldn't be possible," said Samara Schaum, a spokesperson for Broadway Stages.

As more New Yorkers find themselves struggling to afford meals, the production company has dipped its funds into a multitude of campaigns combatting hunger.

The group has also donated $2,500 contribution to the North Brooklyn Angels mobile food truck, the Angel-Mobile, and a donation packaged food to the Cooper Park Housing Association.

In other efforts, to help essential workers the group donated 400 shoe coverings to the Elmhurst Hospital. And in order to help with remote learning, the company donated school supplies to 100 students at PS 23 in East New York.

"We're really a company that focuses on the community. We're very family-oriented and if we can lend a helping hand we're very much happy to do so," stated Monica Holowacz, Broadway Stages's director of community outreach.
