An affordable housing lottery has opened for 37 units at Edwin's Place Housing, located at 7 Livonia Avenue in Brownsville.

Edwin's Place, a 125-unit project by architect agency Robert A.M. Stern joins the firm's cache of high-end buildings where units normally run in the millions. The building was developed by nonprofit partners Breaking Ground and the African American Planning Commission, Inc.

The developers have set aside 1/3 of the units, a mix of one-, two-, and three-bedroom apartments ranging from $666 to $1,279 a month, for New Yorkers earning 40, 50, or 60 percent of the area median income. Preference for 50 percent of the units will be given to residents of Brooklyn Community Board 16.

The remaining units will be set aside as supportive housing for low-income or formerly homeless individuals, including eight units set aside for veterans.

The building will also feature a multipurpose room, as well as green energy features like Energy Star appliances and water conserving fixtures.

The building is between the 2, 3, 4 stations at Sutter Avenue-Rutland Road and at Rockaway Avenue-- a few blocks from Betsy Head Pool and a quick walk to Lincoln Terrace/Arthur S. Somers Park.
