Manhattan: Shame on the Daily News for joining the chorus of irresponsible pandering politicians calling for rent freezes, moratoriums and other half-baked rent relief that would effectively choke off the rent revenue — and with it the stream that feeds neighborhood jobs and economies, pays for repairs and maintenance, provides safe and quality housing for tenants, and fills the city's bank account with billions of dollars in property taxes that translate into essential services like fire, police, education, and sanitation, and keep the city operational ("May day," editorial, April 23).
