On the 20th anniversary of the release of his seminal Black on Both Sides album and a decade after his last album, Ecstatic, yasiin bey returns with his newest recording, Negus (pronounced neh-goose), which made its U.S. debut as a multi-media installation at the Brooklyn Museum, Friday, November 15 and on view through January 26, 2020.
Negus will not be released in any digital or analog mediums. But Brooklyn Museum is inviting the public out for an intimate, one-night-only live performance of Negus by yasiin bey and the album's producer Lord Tusk. Two performances are scheduled for Thursday, November 21, at 7:30pm and 9pm.
Tickets start at $35 and include Museum general admission (purchase tickets for yasiin bey: Negus separately). Member tickets start at $30. Seating is not assigned and is first come, first served.
The work is also being presented at the Museum through January 26 as part of the listening installation yasiin bey: Negus.
Please note: This is a phone-free and camera-free event. The use of cellphones, smartwatches, smart accessories, cameras, or recording devices is not permitted in the performance space. Upon arrival at the Auditorium, all phones and smartwatches will be secured in Yondr cases that will be opened at the end of the event.
