Fort Greene and Clinton Hill are usually highlighted on lists of best neighborhoods to trick or treat in Brooklyn... and for good reason! The house decorations, the candy, the costumes and the energy is electric. It truly embodies the fun-loving spirit of Halloween!

But Halloween is more than trick-or-treating and Central Brooklyn is more than Fort Greene. ...

Below, we've compiled a list of activities for your young ones across a variety of neighborhoods in Central Brooklyn, including Bed-Stuy and Crown Heights. From library escape rooms to mummy wrapping contests, to candy apple dipping to sci-fi adventures... it's all in there.

Wednesday, Oct. 30

A Haunted Hotel: New York City College of Technology's (City Tech) annual high-tech haunted hotel. This theme-park-quality Halloween attraction has been thrilling children (ages 10+ recommended) and adults alike since 2000. Through Halloween, schedule varies. Film Series: The Most Scared I've Ever Been: Special guests screen and discuss their most memorable and frightening movie experiences over three nights. On Oct. 30, playwright Jeremy O. Harris discusses "Eve's Bayou." On Oct. 31, actress Zazie Beetz and writer David Rysdahl discuss "Under the Shadow." 7 p.m. at the Brooklyn Museum's Iris and B. Escape from the Library: It's the return of Clinton Hill Library's terrifying Halloween Escape Room. Sign up for a slot and you and your team get twenty minutes to solve all the clues to "escape" (don't worry, you're not actually locked in). 4-8 p.m. at the Clinton Hill Library. Free. Monster Mash Bash at Crown Heights Library: Head to this spooky event with activities for kids and teens including a mummy wrap, spider rings, a costume contest, giveaways and free... All ages, from 3:30pm at 560 New York Ave and Maple Street. CROWN HEIGHTS

HALLOWEEN: Thursday, Oct. 31

The Monster Mash Dance Party on Myrtle Ave.: The Myrtle Avenue Brooklyn Partnership is inviting all NYC ghouls, goblins, and little monsters to celebrate Halloween at this annual dance party. The event features a Thriller dance class and open dance battle led by PS20 Dancers and Mr. Chung, starting at 4:45 PM.Costumes are encouraged, but not required. Kids 12 and younger must be accompanied by an adult guardian. CLINTON HILL

DUMBOween: Bring the kids to a spooky story at 4:30 p.m. at the Brooklyn Roasting Company, then costumed characters will march to the Archway Under the Manhattan Bridge for a Halloween party. Expect candy, arts and crafts, a costume contest, and music from Funkrust Brass Band. 4:30-7 p.m. at the Brooklyn Roasting Company and the Archway. Free. More info here.  DUMBO

26th Annual Clinton Hill Halloween Walk: The Society for Clinton Hill is hosting its annual Halloween Walk with a host of beautiful homes and dazzling shows all around Clinton Hill. A map is available for download or can be picked up at various locations including the Apple Art Store, Apple Bank, Graziella's, Mekelburg's, Pecks and more, 5:30pm, 321 Dekalb Ave. CLINTON HILL

BAMBoo at BAM: Bring the kids to an outdoor block party in front of the Brooklyn Academy of Music with stilt-walkers, candy giveaways, music, carnival games and a costume contest.4-7 p.m. at the BAM Peter Jay Sharp Building, 30 Lafayette Ave. Free. More info here. FORT GREENE

Halloween Garden Party at Patchen Community Square: A community Halloween party in the garden, with story time, trick-or-treating, music, crafts and more. 4 to 8 p.m. at 142 Patchen Ave. Free. More info here.  BED STUY

Masquerade on Macon: What happens when Martians try to invade earth? A group of science-loving kids know what to do to save Bedford-Stuyvesant and our planet. A stage will be set up outside Macon Library and the block will be closed to traffic. The show runs 15 minutes and will repeat several times throughout the evening. 5-8 p.m. at 361 Lewis Ave. Free. Dip Candy Apples: Estuary at ONE°15 Brooklyn Marina invites families to join pastry chef Francois Payard to dip a free candy apple in caramel, chocolate or sugar. All apples will be nut and allergy free — or kids can pick up one that's been pre-dipped.) 4-8 p.m. at 159 Bridge Park Drive in Brooklyn Bridge Park across from Pier 5. Free. DUMBO

Haunted Hay Ride in Prospect Park: Head to Prospect Park to see horses and their riders in spooky costumes. Then jump on the haunted hay ride for a spooky ride. All ages; free; 4-8pm at Prospect Park's Bartel Pritchard Circle RSVP to Be@Quadrozzi.com. PROSPECT HEIGHTS
