Also doggies can party for a purpose, according to the team of Bushwick Bark who will be throwing their Fifth Annual Doggy Pool Party Fundraiser on Saturday at Norwind's.

"Time for your pups to beat the heat and splash around to support a wonderful animal rescue -- Second Chance Rescue NYC Dogs," the Bushwick-based pet shop announced on its Facebook page.

The charity shindig will feature pools and treats from the newly opened canine-friendly Ollie's Ice Cream parlor for the four-legged guests, while their humans get to enjoy food and drinks provided by Norwind's and can purchase raffle tickets for a chance to win certificates from local dog walkers, restaurants and more.

Bushwick Bark, which occupies two locations in Bushwick and specializes in healthy pet food and supplies, hosts several fundraising events throughout the year, ranging from BBQs to costume and holiday parties, in support of local animal rescue groups.

This year, all proceeds of the doggy pool party will go toward the Second Chance Rescue NYC Dogs, a nonprofit that works to reduce animal overpopulation in shelters, rescue and rehabilitate critically injured and neglected animals, and connect the community to services that enable animals to remain in their homes.

"In 2009, Second Chance Rescue NYC began as a small dream, founded on the firm belief that all animals deserve love and care, and that no animal should ever be subjected to abuse, neglect or homelessness," the organization states on its website. Since then, the nonprofit has been able to save thousands of dogs and cats by moving them from homelessness to safe, loving homes.

So have a wet and wild time with your pup, and help other furry pals in need while you're at it.
