Fort Greene's high rents might be old news for most (it was the first neighborhood to gentrify in the early 2000s), but when word got out last year that gentrification was taking a swing at Moshood Creations and the storefront soon would be shuttering, the neighborhood riled.

Anyone who has lived in or around Fort Greene during the 90s onward knows that Moshood is Fort Greene. And alas, by the fall 2018, the storefront that was located at 698 Fulton St. for more than two decades finally closed its doors.
However, in the words of the great philosopher-- I mean, rapper-- Logic, "I was gone for a minute, but I'm back now!"
On July 28, Moshood Afariogun, owner and operator of Moshood Creations celebrated the 25th anniversary of his store in its new location at Bedford Stuyvesant Restoration Plaza, located at 1368 Fulton Street in Bed-Stuy.
On Saturday, from 3:00pm - 8:00pm, hundreds of local residents crowd gathered at Restoration Plaza to witness the ribbon-cutting ceremony, followed by a fashion show featuring Moshood's beloved designs.
Afariogun, an immigrant originally from Lagos, Nigeria, arrived in New York in the early 1980s with a plan to make his mark in his fashion and design. And that he certainly has!
From the time of the store's opening in 1994, it has always received an abundance of support from the world community: Moshood's timeless pieces and fluid, elegant designs have been embraced from Brooklyn to Bahia; London to Lagos; and Harlem to Tokyo-- a big part one of the reasons it has lasted through so much change in Brooklyn.
In attendance at the fashion show were NY Attorney General Tish James, Public Advocate Jumaane Williams, State Senator Brooklyn Borough President Eric Adams, Brooklyn District Attorney Eric Gonzales and Councilmember Robert Cornegy.
