Two enthusiastic fans of a former legendary Turkish supper club in Wisconsin will be opening their own replica in Bushwick at the end of the month, reports Eater.

The Turk’s Inn will be occupying a bi-level, 5,000-square-foot space that will bring a sit-down restaurant, a rooftop patio, a döner kebab takeout counter and a music venue, titled “The Sultan Room,” to 234 Starr Street.

The original Midwest supper club shuttered five years ago, but first-time restaurateurs Varun Kataria and Tyler Erickson decided to revive the establishment they got to experience as kids.

The 60-seat restaurant will feature a 1940s bar dived in “moody” red walls and a dining room with an alcove and skylight. The Bushwick outpost will also preserve the original kitschy feel with Ottoman Empire-inspired furniture as well as original artwork, ceramic figurines and antique photographs that Kataria and Erickson purchased at the auction for the Wisconsin location.

Executive chef Alberto Carballo will bring the supper club’s culinary vision to life, according to Gothamist. His chophouse-style menu will include halloumi and cheddar bites with garlic sauce, green bean falafel with mushroom sauce, a “jeweled pilaf” as well as a coffee-rubbed pork chop with grilled cabbage, among others. The Turk’s Inn Döner Kebab takeout counter will keep it simple and specialize in chicken, lamb, halloumi and seitan shawarma and fries. 

The original Turk’s Inn was opened in 1934 in Hayward, Wisconsin, by George “The Turk” Gogian, an immigrant from Istanbul, Turkey. For 80 years, the restaurant mesmerized guests with its iconic interior, welcoming staff and dazzling belly dancers. Following the death of the last Gogian family member, the restaurant closed its doors in 2014.

Its Bushwick successor is slated to open for business on Thursday, June 27, and will be operating daily from 5:30pm to 11:00pm.
