The Barclays Center is launching a new free concert series to take place on its plaza, the Center’s’ management company BSE Global announced Thursday.
Dubbed “Summer Sessions,” the series will kick off on Friday, June 21, and include performances from a variety of local and emerging artists, beginning with comedic DJ Donwill and Nappy Nina, an Oakland-native turned Brooklyn MC, who released her latest album, “The Tree Act,” in January.
The just-announced lineup also highlights local artists such as MICK, a Brooklyn-based DJ whose musical credits include projects with Busta Rhymes and Adele, and who has spun for icons including JAY-Z, Michelle Obama and LeBron James; and Andy Suzuki & The Method, a NYC-based band, who has toured in support of artists like Ringo Starr, Eric Hutchinson and Sister Hazel, among others. So far, all events are scheduled for Thursdays and Fridays, from 4:00pm to 7:00pm.
The free concert series will be accompanied by a rotating selection of food trucks offering food and non-alcoholic beverages for purchase. For the kick-off event on June 21, the Barclays Center will welcome The Sausage Kings.
