This spring break, Brooklyn Children's Museum is hosting Earth Rocks!, a celebration of Earth's rockstar status, to help kids discover how they can become responsible stewards of our planet.
From Friday, April 19, through Sunday, April 28, Brooklyn families can celebrate our awe-inspiring planet by exploring its ecosystems, resources and superpowers through art-making, animal encounters, science demos and live music.
"Overlapping with Earth Day on Monday, April 22, Earth Rocks! is an exploration of humanity's relationship with Earth and an introduction to the topics of sustainability and stewardship," the museum announced.
Throughout Earth Rocks! kids can join the museum for gardening workshops, honeybee-inspired art projects, a look at BCM's collection of fluorescent minerals and investigations into the dramatic power of volcanos complete with an explosive, lava-tastic demonstration!
Visitors can also enjoy music from instruments made from upcycled common objects by Kevin and Rich's Recycled Sounds, while writing love letters to Earth with the help from 826NYC and learn about aquaponics with Brooklyn-based urban agriculture and education company Oko Farms.
