Customers at Brooklyn's Target store in Atlantic Center Mall will get a pleasant surprise -- and perhaps a little momentary vertigo-- on their next visit, as the store unveiled on Wednesday a redesign that presents a dramatically different look.

The renovation, completed by Schimenti Construction Company, features major design improvements that aim to make the store more modern and customer-friendly, including the development of wider aisles in the children's retail section to accommodate strollers and a streamlined checkout system.

So regular Target customers likely have watched the renovations unfold with little-to-no disruption since they started in January 2018.

Six additional self-check-out registers have been installed by the sky-bridge that leads to the Atlantic Center Mall and the in-store Starbucks and restrooms have moved over to the space overlooking Atlantic Avenue where the cafeteria-style seating area used to be.

Other upgrades to the store include new wooden wall panels, slotted wood ceilings, brighter light fixtures and red glass accents for a more contemporary look, along with updated beauty departments and more mannequins to provide shoppers with styling ideas.
