Billie Holiday Theatre to Welcome Global Film Festival Exploring Immigration and Interculturalism

The Nova Frontier Film Festival showcases the works of filmmakers from and about the African Diasporas, Middle East, Latin America and Caribbean

The Nova Frontier Film Festival, showcasing films, panels and virtual reality experiences about and from the African Diaspora, Middle East and Latin America, will be coming to the Billie Holiday Theatre from Friday, September 7 through Sunday, September 9. 2018

Presented in partnership with RestorationArt, this year's festival focuses on themes of immigration, identity and interculturalism and features a program of over 22 films including shorts, features and documentaries,

"Nova Frontier Film Festival at RestorationART embodies our commitment to world-class storytelling that is piercing, provocative and daring in addressing the issues of our time," stated Dr. Indira Etwaroo, executive director, RestorationART.  "We are honored to bring this global platform for filmmakers to Bed-Stuy."

The films attempt to interrogate and address timely and pressing global issues of immigration and the ongoing refugee crisis in Europe, Africa and the Middle East. The filmmakers focus their lens on people caught up in the maelstrom of wars, oppression and displacement, giving voice and humanity to them.

Nova Frontier Film Festival and lab is a timely narrative, documentary and experimental film festival and multi-disciplinary lab, passionately committed to showcasing the works of filmmakers and artists from and about the African Diasporas, Middle East, Latin America and Caribbean. The festival is giving special platform filmmakers of this year's festival, many of who are coming from countries like Iran and the Middle East, that have been banned and boycotted from Europe and USA and have no access to financial institutions to submit their films to festivals.
