The One Crown Heights Festival boasts a full program of family-friendly activities and performances in appreciation of the neighborhood's diversity.
The Third Annual One Crown Heights Festival, a neighborhood celebration in partnership with the Brooklyn Children's Museum, the Jewish Children's Museum, Project C.A.R.E and Majority Leader Laurie A. Cumbo, returns with family-friendly activities, art, food and performances to Brower Park on Sunday, August 12.
"I am thrilled to be able to bring together the diverse and dynamic Crown Heights community for the Third Annual One Crown Heights Festival," said Majority Leader Cumbo. "This family-friendly day will be filled with art, fun activities, food, music and more to further strengthen the bonds of our incredible community."
The free event kicks off with a poster making workshop at the Jewish Children's Museum, followed by a children's parade along Kingston Avenue to Brower Park. The parade ends at the intersection of Prospect Place and Brooklyn Avenue for the unveiling of the One Crown Heights mural, a new community artwork that highlights the beauty, cultural diversity and unity of the neighborhood.
The day-long celebration continues in Brower Park with art, games and performances by the Brooklyn United Marching Band, Cumbe Dance, Eli Marcus, Chony Milecki, Aaron Einhorn, DJayGus, Tropicalfete Stilt Walkers and Harmony Music Makers. In case of rain, the festivities will be held after the mural unveiling inside the Brooklyn Children's Museum.
One Crown Heights is a cross-cultural project intended to increase community bonds, promote positive exchanges and respect, and create opportunities for the Black, Caribbean, Jewish and newer residents to work towards unified neighborhood that appreciates the diversity of its residents.
