A new 50,000-square-foot, small-format Target is slated to open in 2020 in East Flatbush, reports NBC. Located at the intersection of Kings Highway and Foster Avenue, the new addition will be the retailer's seventh store to open in the borough, adding to the total of 27 shops in New York City.

Target's small-front stores are emerging more and more in densely populated urban and suburban areas, and near college campuses, where traditionally larger stores may not fit. The new concept aims to offer a tailored shopping experience with square footages that range from 12,000 to 80,000, smaller than the 145,000-square-foot average for a standard Target store. Based on research, data and focus groups, each store's product assortment caters to the needs of the local community, reports Business Insider

Brooklynites will still be able to cover all their basic needs at the Kings Highway location. According to the announcement, merchandise will include apparel and accessories for men, women, kids and babies; beauty products; toys and sporting goods; home goods, and a food and beverage selection including fresh produce and grab-and-go options. The store will also offer pickup for your online Target orders.

By the end of 2019, Target plans to open 130 of these small format stores. The new Kings Highway location will employ about 100 people and hiring events will be taking place prior to the opening.
