RestorationART welcomes Tony Award-winning Broadway and television director Kenny Leon for a powerful conversation and book signing at the Billie Holiday Theatre on Wednesday, June 13. Moderated by Dr. Indira Etwaroo, executive director of RestorationART and The Billie Holiday Theatre, Leon will speak about his book Take You Wherever You Go: A Memoir.

"Kenny Leon's personal story is inspiring," shared Denzel Washington who worked with Leon on A Raisin in the Sun. "His grandmother and mother told him he could do what he wanted in life as long as he put in the work and remained true to himself, and that's what he did."

That's what he did, and more. Leon first gained prominence in 1988, when he became one of the few African Americans to head a notable nonprofit theater company as the artistic director of the Alliance Theatre Company, which he left in 2000 to become the co-founder and artistic director of the Kenny Leon's True Colors Theatre Company.
