NYC's pie favorite, Petee's Pie Company, opened its grand new outpost, Petee's Café, in the heart of Clinton Hill. The all-day café offers, of course, its famous sweet creations as well as newly added savory pies.

"Petee's Cafe and their delectable house-made pies are a great compliment to Myrtle's food landscape," said Meredith Phillips Almeida, executive director of Myrtle Avenue Brooklyn Partnership. "We're thrilled that they've joined us and look forward to many yummy pie-filled afternoons in the shop."

Beloved for her famous pies such as Salty Chocolate Chess, NY Sour Cherry, Coconut Custard, and Spring Cordial, Petra "Petee" Paredez first opened Petee's Pie Company on the Lower East Side in 2014. The Virginia-native grew up in a pie-baking family. She was raised in the bakery, pulling all-nighters before Thanksgiving, learning the tricks of the trade. After college, she moved to teach special needs children for several years in NYC public schools, before seizing the opportunity to open her own pie shop with her husband Robert Paredez in Manhattan, to "make the best pie money can buy using real ingredients."

And also for the new Clinton Hill location, Paredez was very hands-on: She designed the café herself with the intention to create a space that is warm, welcoming and full of life. The result is somewhere between a diner and a bistro, offering both old favorites and a brand new savory menu. The new menu, which includes old sweet favorites, now also offers savory dishes such as a Moroccan Shepherd's Pie with lamb tagine flavors, a Muffaletta sandwich made with housemade bread and cold cuts from the Meat Hook.

Peetee's Cafe, which operates daily from 10:00am to 10:00pm, offers, in addition, tempting breakfast options, including fluffy buttermilk biscuits served with honey, jam, sausage or eggs, and a rotating selection of seasonal quiche. The new menu additions don't stop there: The café will soon offer a drink menu including beer, cider, wine and carefully crafted seasonal cocktails.

Petee's also has a strong commitment to supporting local business and utilizing seasonal produce; any and all ingredients that can be grown locally are procured from local sources. Also the café's espresso menu features a local purveyor: Parlor Coffee, a roaster right around the corner. And: The Clinton Hill space even has a big backyard, where veggies and herbs are already growing to be used in the quiche and salads.

Sounds like heavenly pies, now made in Brooklyn.
