Every mother deserves to be catered to on Mother's Day, but no one deserves this special attention more than the mothers who have survived domestic violence. With that sentiment in mind, Jericho Road Inc., a domestic violence awareness community organization, hosted its fifth annual 'Sponsor a Survivor for a Day of Pampering' Mother's Day event on Saturday, May 12.

The organization welcomed over 20 domestic violence survivors from a local shelter to get their nails, hair and makeup done by students from Cosmetology Essentials. Additionally, Jericho Road, Inc. invited poets and speakers to inspire the women at the event and help them feel beautiful both inside and out.

"What we want to do is build confidence. We want to give inspiration," said Jericho Road Inc.'s Executive Director Antonio Bascom. "Inspiration helps us to realize that we are not alone in the struggle. There are people that are with us to help change what we are going through."
