Let's jump! The Brooklyn Children's Museum is hosting the Love Double Dutch Party!, a day of double dutch in collaboration with the National Double Dutch League (NDDL) and Doreen Spicer-Danelly, author of the forthcoming young adult novel Love Double Dutch, on Saturday, April 7.

In celebration of the beloved New York tradition, the Brooklyn Children's Museum is throwing a block party with street art and activities on the museum's roof, and invited two teams from the National Double Dutch League who will perform and give jump instructions to both kids and adults alike.

Special guest Doreen Spicer-Dannelly, film writer and producer of The Proud Family and Jump In!, will be signing and giving away copies of her new novel Love Double Dutch. The New York native began her career as a writer's intern on the popular ABC sitcom Hangin' with Mr. Cooper and continued to hone her craft on shows as The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, Martin, The Jamie Foxx Show and The Cosbys.

In her new novel Love Double Dutch, Spicer-Danelly tells the story of Brooklyn middle-schooler MaKayla who can only think about one thing: taking her double dutch team all the way to the National Jump-off at Madison Square Garden. That is, until her mother breaks the news that she has to spend the summer at her aunt's house in North Carolina while her parents work out their problems . . . or decide to call it quits. Not only does Kayla does not feel at home in the South, she also doesn't get along with her cousin Sally. It looks like her jump-off dreams are over -- until she finds out that double dutch is huge in the South. Kayla and Sally just need to find two more kids for a team and a routine, and the jump-off is back on!

Hop on over for this all-day celebration of double dutch at the Brooklyn Children's Museum. This family event is open to all ages, but RSVPs are required.
