Brooklynites who need a good laugh - don't fret: The Brooklyn Comedy Festival 2017 has arrived to bring you laughter and joy! The seven-day festival will take over 17 different venues in Brooklyn from Monday, August 21 to Sunday, August 27.

This year, The Daily Show is sending some of their finest correspondents to Brooklyn: Roy Wood Jr., Ronny Chieng and Michelle Wolf will be among the talented performers and storytellers to take the stages all across the borough. Other performers include former SNL's Sasheer Zamata, T.J. Miller, "Rough Night's" Ilana Glazer, Bob the Drag Queen, Wyatt Cenac, Mark Normand, Matteo Lane, Hari Kondabolu, Aparna Nancherla, Dave Hill and Jo Firestone, among others.

Founded in 2013 by producer Ashleigh Walker and performers Julian Kiani and Chris Nester, the festival was created to celebrate comedy and to give every level of performer a chance to shine on Brooklyn's many stages. In past years, comedy luminaries such as Hannibal Buress, Nick Turner, Reggie Watts, SNL's Mike O'Brien and Michael Che, as well as The Daily Show's Hasan Minhaj andTrevor Noah made appearances at the festival.

Each year, the festival showcases both established and up-and-coming performers from every realm of comedy, including sketch, standup, improv, podcasts, and film. The festival also aims to feature local talents and existing local weekly or monthly comedy shows, such as Sasheer Zamata's "Party Time" or The "Fancy Show" with Wyatt Cenac, to highlight Brooklyn's own vibrant comedy scene.

In addition to shows, the festival hosts film screenings at Nitehawk Cinema all week long, as well as a Writer's Panel discussing diversity in late night writing, sponsored by NBC.

The Brooklyn Comedy Festival's 5th year anniversary and closing night celebration "Surprise Party Comedy Show!" on Saturday at Brooklyn Bazaar promises a grandiose finish to a week full of fun.
