Ready to invest in the local youth of Brooklyn? Medgar Evers College, a senior college of the City University of New York, is holding its first-ever annual 5K Run/Walk event on Saturday, August 19 to support student scholarships!

The race starts at 10:00am, kicking off from the campus, at the corner of the College's flagship building at 1650 Bedford Ave., between Crown and Montgomery Streets and ending there as well. Check-in begins at 8:00am.

Hundreds are expected to join the College community in a sensational summer sprint through Brooklyn where they'll get to cruise past historic landmarks including the Brooklyn Botanic Garden and Brooklyn Museum while immersing themselves in the diverse culture of Central Brooklyn.

The College is raising funds to support student scholarships through the Medgar Evers College Educational Foundation, Inc. Many of the college's students are first-generation and are eligible for financial aid. The student body is international, with a large population of natives of Jamaica, Haiti, Guyana and Trinidad.
