To celebrate Children's Health Day, HealthCare Choices (HCC), a Brooklyn based health center, will host its second annual "Back to School Carnival," on Saturday, August 19. The carnival will take over the front of its community health care center in East New York and transform it into a magical carnival sideshow with a bouncy house, pony rides, face painting, carnival games with prizes, cotton candy and much more to entertain little and big kids alike.

"We are thrilled to celebrate Children's Health Day at our East New York site," said HCC's Chief Executive Officer Maria Siebel, LCSW-R. "We recently celebrated our first year of operation in East New York, and we look forward to many more years of providing quality and affordable health care services to the residents of Brooklyn."

HealthCare Choices is a nonprofit community health center that provides a variety of services to help people improve the quality of their lives, regardless of their health insurance status or financial resources. For the carnival, HCC is partnering with HealthFirst to provide backpacks and school supplies to children, and health care insurance information and Naloxone training with free overdose prevention kits to adults.

The carnival is part of National Health Center Week, which takes place from August 13 - 19, and is a national awareness campaign to highlight the mission and services of community health centers around the country.

Community health centers serve 25 million Americans annually, while saving $24 billion in annual health system costs. Health centers not only prevent illness and foster wellness in the most challenging populations, they offer solutions to the most pressing health care issues in their communities.
