Your Funky Fresh Weekend Updates

Now that the temperatures are settling into the 90 degrees zone, and 'sticky' describes more than just the cannabis that your roommate gets delivered, you can expect that the Brooklyn streets are heating up with events. It's some outdoor tings, some early tings and some tribute parties to satisfy the hipster, the blipster and the classics lover.

Although there's a weekend of fun events out there, whether or not you can actually arrive there by subway is an entirely different subject. The MTA has mastered the art of the delayed train! They're really knocking it out the park with track fires, derailments, power outages to go along with the mundane sick passenger, police activity and train congestion. This weekend, perhaps there will be an alien abduction on the A train and everybody will simply disappear into the thin air...which would be horrible for the people that purchased a monthly MetroCard!

Here are a few things to augment your weekend agenda:

Brooklyn Night Bazaar, Club House Jamboree, Coney Art Wall, Dash speaks, DJ Dick at Night, Dj Esquire, DJ Fritzo, Eric Frazier, BK Reader, Eye Spy, Fort Greene Jazz Festival, James Brown, Khem's Jerk Shop, Kinanm Lounge, Lost Tons, Pete Rock, Slow Jam, Soul Summit, Wonderground

Lost Wons, Brooklyn Night Bazaar, 150 Greenpoint Ave, Friday, 9;00pm-2;00am, free (Greenpoint)

This is my party. It's super fun. It celebrates the music of musical icons that passed too soon, but left us with DOPE JAMS! DJ Fritzo and I kill it for the people. You can also play Ping-Pong, video games and glow-in-the dark mini golf, shoot pool, stuff your face or sing in private karaoke rooms. Of course, you can also drink adult beverages, make bad decisions and wake up on Saturday with a twinge of regret but with a big fat smile on your face!

Slow drag heaven

Slow Jam, Brooklyn Bowl, 61 Wythe Avenue, Friday, 11:30pm, $10-$15 (Williamsburg)

You like slow jams? You like dancing close with people as opposed to twerking or performing an excellent Millie Rock all night? Then this is your jam right here. Remember to ask permission before you start to slow drag with that cutie by the bar. Also, the whole situation can verge on embarrassing if you get too excited, but that comes with the territory! Check the event page here.

Hardest Working man in showbiz!

Mr. Dynamite: A James Brown tribute with Pete Rock, Friends & Lovers, 641 Classon Ave, Saturday, 10:00pm - 4:00am, $10 (Crown Heights)

A tribute to the hardest working man in showbiz, helmed by Pete Rock, sounds like a winner! Totally be prepared to dance, because you WILL "get on a good foot" and "do it to death", which are actually songs titles from Mr. Brown's extensive catalog of floor burners. DJ Dash Speaks and DJ Esquire are also on deck control to make you "get up offa that thing" (which is also a song from the inimitable James Brown). Click here for tickets.

Live jazz in the park!

The 8th Avenue Fort Greene Jazz Festival, Fort Greene Park, Saturday, 3:00pm - 7:00pm, free (Fort Greene)

Do you like Jazz? Well you should! Don't front on original American music and get over to the park with a blanket, one of those chairs that collapses into a sleeve, a thermos of jungle juice and soak up the vibes. It's literally Eric Frazier's Jazz Fest and he brings a brisk lineup of musicians to grace the stage with him.

Visit the website to check out the lineup. This is also a kid friendly event, and you should expose your kids to Jazz and give them a break from the cascade of Yung & Lil mumble rappers ( Lil Yachty, Lil Uzi Vert, Yung Thug, etc) who they're exposed to on TV and the radio.

Backyard Boogie!

EyeWonder Presents: Sun Dance, Kinanm Lounge, 856 Atlantic Avenue, Saturday, 2:00pm - 9:00pm, $5-$10 (Prospect Heights)

This is a super fun BBQ and backyard party, put on by Eye Spy and WonderGround Dance Party, two of the premiere party/sound systems in Brooklyn! Good looking people, delicious food from Khem's Jerk Shop, who will have the grills smoking, and a Sunday soundtrack spun by a lineup of dope DJs! Don't miss this one. In fact, they still have early bird tickets which you can purchase here.

Beach Beach y'all

Coney Art Walls, 3050 Stillwell Avenue, Sunday, 12:00pm-10:00pm, free (Coney Island)

This is house music at the beach with a bunch of dope street art and food vendors. That literally sums it up and should have you double checking dancing shoes and sunscreen! Club House Jamboree meets Soul Summit at the beach! Both of those parties are usually in a park, so getting such a seasoned lineup of house music DJs at the beach, is funky fresh and freaky! Hit it, hit it!

So there it is! Indoor, outdoor, daytime, nightime, beach, park...everything. Have some Brooklyn fun this weekend!
