Check out these photos of Brooklyn District Attorney Eric Gonzalez as he announced at Bed-Stuy's Restoration Corporation Wednesday morning his plans to run for the full term as District Attorney.

Gonzalez has led the Kings County District Attorney's Office since October 4, 2016, when he was appointed by District Attorney Ken Thompson, prior to Thompson's death.

"It has been a privilege for me to have served the people of Brooklyn for the last 22 years and to have worked hand in hand with Ken Thompson to make the Brooklyn DA's office a model for what an effective and progressive prosecutor's office should be," said Gonzalez. "I'm here because I want four more years to continue the important work we started. I'm here because I am running for district attorney of the great borough of Brooklyn.

"As the architect of Ken Thompson's most critical initiatives, I am running for district attorney because we have come too far to stop now. I am running for Brooklyn DA because our work is not done. The light that Ken Thompson shined on the borough must now serve to light the path for his successor. It is one thing to claim that you will continue Ken's legacy, but another to have been a part of that legacy and to have continued it in his absence," he said.

"Keeping Brooklyn safe, reducing incarceration for young adults, providing second chances and ensuring equal justice for all Brooklyn families, that is my life's work."
