Hello There, Weekend!

This weekend is a very nondescript two, three days. It's not the first weekend of Spring or Easter weekend, or any holiday.

This weekend is a very nondescript two, three days. It's not the first weekend of Spring or Easter weekend, or any holiday. Trump is still a train wreck, the weather won't be great, and the first round of the NBA playoffs have been routes and can be heading towards multiple sweeps. But that's the beauty of weekends, because it doesn't matter what's happening! Weekends rock just by nature of it being the weekend. No arm wrestling on the 2 train during rush hour, no annoying co-workers or early hours. It's just you and whatever you wanna do...so here's a few things to do.

RIP Prince!

Lost Wons - Prince Edition, Brooklyn Night Bazaar, 150 Greenpoint Avenue, Friday, 9pm-2am, free (Greenpoint)

This Friday marks the one year anniversary of Prince's untimely demise. Celebrate his musical genius at this monthly party that celebrates iconic artists who passed too soon...but left us dope jams! We're playing Prince, but also his proteges and family such as Sheila E, The Time, Jimmy Jam & Terry Lewis, Vanity and Apollonia, Wendy & Lisa, and other's who he wrote for or influenced. Brooklyn Night Bazaar is a fun building, with glow in the dark mini-golf, ping pong, private karaoke rooms, pool, vendors, a restaurant and of course, our party in the Cellar Lounge. Click here for more information and to rsvp.

Rock Paper Scissors

BedStuy House Party Presents: West Coast BBQ, 350 Tompkins Avenue, Saturday, 4pm-12 Midnight, $30 (Bed-Stuy)

This is a new twist on the old school house party. You pay one price and it's free drinks all night, with DJ sets from the Wonderground Crew,  and DJ Sake 1. You can kick it in the house or party in the backyard, so even if the weather frowns, party people can still get down. Produced by Bed Vyne, who's providing the wine and spirits, Chao Williams' 21st Amendment Beer is providing the suds and Maroon Sausage Company is manning the BBQ situation. Click here for more info.

Vinyl Rules!

Record Store Day, All Over, Saturday, Free

Do you like records? It doesn't really matter why you like records, but you probably like records. Maybe you're a DJ or a producer, you're into nostalgia or just like the aesthetics of them on your wall. Or perhaps you're part of the growing hoard that has a turntable and prefers the sound of vinyl over the cold compressed bits of binary that comes from digital. Either way, you should check out record store day. If you don't know what record store day is, click this link and find out.

Many of the Brooklyn record stores are participating, so you won't have to go far to pick up special remixes, reissues and new music from a range of musicians, across multiple genres. Some shops will also have live music, so check the website.
