After one-year of renovation, Bedford-Stuyvesant can now add another eco-minded food market to its list: Wholesome Foods Market!

Located at 1306 Atlantic Avenue, on the corner Nostrand Ave, Wholesome Foods is just the second organic food supermarket in Bed-Stuy and has been open for three weeks.

The store, a 2,700-square-foot space, is the second location of Wholesome Food Market; the first opened in Lefferts Garden in 2013. The owner, Mr. Omar Haimed, said that while he and his brother were running the first location, he often received delivery request from residents in Bed-Stuy.

The "need for organic produce" and a growing number of young professionals in the area encouraged them to open the second location, said Haimed.

The Bed-Stuy store features fresh pretty much everything  you might expect from an organic food market, including fresh, organic produce,  a wide selection of spices and teas, fresh juices, organic pet food, freshly prepared salads and hot sandwiches and a small eating space by the window.

Eating space

Wholesome aspires to offer resident shoppers the same or similar options as Whole Foods, said Haimed, minus the commute to Manhattan. The store will also offer delivery service within 10-block radius. The hours will be from 6am to 7pm, seven days a week.

Wholesome Foods along with the BID are testaments to the transformation taking place in the neighborhood.
