By this time, the Myrtle Avenue Holiday Gift Guide should be well circulated among those who live in the Fort Greene/Clinton Hill area. Here's a peek inside another local store on the gift guide list for consideration when doing your holiday shopping: Barking Brown, located at 468 Myrtle Avenue, is an accessory-oriented boutique that has been in business for ten years.

Upon entering Barking Brown, shoppers are met with an array of colorful and quirky unisex hats, followed by more items that seem to only get more fun as you walk further in.

There are  knitted hats in the shape of a monsters and reindeers; scarves in the form of smiling snakes; peacock-colored fluffy pouches, tassel earrings and turquoise necklaces... It's a great place to shop for children's gift items or for grown-ups who still carry the child within.

Barking Brown carries brands such as Gracia, by Korean designers Joyce Kim and Esley. Currently, in its apparel collection, you'll find racks of black tutu skirts, which have become somewhat of a fashion staple after the character Carrie Bradshaw of Sex in the City wore it while splashed in water by a passing bus.

Barking Brown is a reminder that Brooklynites need not go to the city for style inspiration when you can find plenty of style right here in the neighborhood!

Barking Brown's annual winter sale is now! (And as a friendly heads-up, the telephone in the store currently is not working).

The store is open Monday through Sunday, 11:00am to 8:00pm (with shortened hours on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day).
