My name is Aqeel Haynes, and I am 14 years old. I used to live in Brooklyn, I now live in the Bronx. But I am here to share with you my love of Brooklyn. There is so much to see in Brooklyn, but wherever you go in Brooklyn there will always be a pizza shop. Brooklyn is famous for its diverse choices of food. You will also always see kids playing outside and interacting with their elders. Brooklyn has a great sense of community.

Brooklyn is the home of many sounds. You can hear honking, to screaming or slow jazz, to the upbeat hip-hop, but you will really get in tune with the sounds of Brooklyn at nighttime. At first the sounds may seem loud and obnoxious, but slowly and surely they will become familiar. The sounds you hear are the heartbeat of Brooklyn.

There is much to smell in Brooklyn, from the pizza and halal, to the way the actual people smell (some not so pleasant). But you can never be sure what you smell in Brooklyn. Like I said earlier, there is a variety of choices of food, so you'll never run out of new things to taste. For example: curry chicken, beef patty and my personal favorite-- fish sandwiches.

The weather changes all the time in Brooklyn due to the fact that we experience all 4 seasons here in New York. But even though you can never be sure what the weather will be here, it will not make your stay here a sullen one.

The people in Brooklyn are people you won't see anywhere else in the world. There are white, black, red and yellow faces everywhere. But what will really stand out to you is the clothing. You have the Muslims with their dashikis and the Jews with their yamakas. There are people with baggy jeans and skinny jeans or people with v-necks and button-down shirts. The people of Brooklyn have their own unique style that can never be copied by anyone else.

I may not live in Brooklyn now, but in Brooklyn I have found a sense of community that I haven't experienced anywhere else in New York. I have shared with you the heart and soul of the whole of Brooklyn.

Hopefully this small essay of my experience will be enough to convince you to come see the joys and wonders of Brooklyn. Brooklyn is my home and can be yours too.
