On Tuesday, August 2, 2016, the 88th Precinct Community & Youth Council is hosting their annual National Night Out Against Crime to benefit the Fort Greene/Clinton Hill Community. This year's event will take place from 11:00am - 9:00pm at Brower Park, located at St. Mark's Ave. and Park Pl., between Brooklyn and Kingston avenues, behind the Brooklyn Children's Museum in Crown Heights.
Close to 37.8 million neighbors across 16,124 communities will participate around the country in the celebration of National Night Out, America's Night Out Against Crime. Amid local and national news coverage of police misconduct, this event serves as a healthy chance for the community to strengthen their relationship with the law enforcement and with the public officials that work in their area.
National Night Out is a cohesive effort to promote involvement in crime prevention activities, police-community partnerships, and neighborhood camaraderie. The event strives to empower the community to recognize their size, strength, and to encourage them to use the resources that are already in place. Although the event grows in size each year, the 88th Police Precinct is expecting well over 1500 local residents to attend. This year attendees can enjoy free food, games, prizes, music and more.
