The Fort Greene Park Jazz Festival began in July 2010 and has provided live Jazz entertainment for families, neighborhoods, and New Yorkers at large.  The festival was developed as an idea by Eric Frazier, a Brooklyn raised musician who studied the Conga Drum, the Djembe Drum and African Dance.  The festival represents his long time dream of enjoying great jazz music from his own neighborhood park and he first accomplished that goal back in 2010, debuting the very first Fort Greene Park Jazz Festival.

Fort Green Park is no stranger to important entertainers as it has hosted a long list of legendary writers and artists including James Baldwin, John Steinbeck, Spike Lee, Rosie Perez, Chris Rock, Wesley Snipes, Malik Yoba, Chester Higgins, Lester Bowie, Common, Mos Def, Talib Kweli, Erykah Badu, and Jeffrey Wright.

This years festival will take place on Saturday July 23 and September 10 respectively, from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.    While there will be a plethora of surprise guests, the lineup will mostly feature artists from Eric Frazier's network. For these local artists, the festival serves as an opportunity to get the recognition, exposure and acclaim for which they have worked on throughout the year.
