Admission into this non-ticketed free event was on a first come, first served basis as the park anticipated that the crowd would reach maximum capacity by the end of the evening.  With beverages in hand, an eager crowd enjoy dynamic stand-up sets that covered a slew of topics which introduced the comics and their unique perspectives.  In a move that left the crowd roaring with excitement, some comedians even entered the crowd after the show to pose for pictures and shake hands with eager fans.

This particular event is one of the more unique offerings of the Summerstage series, as it transformed an outdoor venue into an theater that was prime for comedy performers.  SummerStage annually presents over 100 performances in sixteen parks throughout the five boroughs, bringing free entertainment and art access to some communities that might otherwise go without.

"In a city happily inundated with summertime cultural offerings, the SummerStage festival stands alone for its dizzying array of options, its local enthusiasm, and its general aura of awe." said The New York Times in a recent review.

While crowds of all sizes have already enjoyed a plethora of programming, this summer series is just getting started.  For a full list of the performances, please visit the Summerstage website.
