The Weekend is upon us and once again, I'm here to run down some really cool events in Brooklyn. You don't even have to thank me, but you do need to enjoy it! Summer is almost officially here, but the outdoor party season has already begun, whether it's on top of a roof or in a tunnel, your options this weekend is rather vast. Here's seven events that I'm recommending for you, check them out:

SATURDAY

12143227_970814686358977_2694211018653413090_n

Brooklyn Maker's Market, Williamsburg Savings Bank Building, 175 Broadway, 12pm-6pm, Saturday and Sunday, Free (South Williamsburg)

100 + vendors, in a beautiful and classical building, selling some really cool things that they make. It's everything from fashion to food to kitschier things and some visual art. If you haven't got your dad his Father's Day gift as of yet, this is an excellent opportunity to get him something unique, something that none of his other dad friends will own. Gawking at the beautiful architecture is expected and encouraged! Hit the Facebook Page by clicking here

Kowteff African Dance Juneteenth Celebration, Bed-Stuy Restoration Plaza, 12pm-8pm Free

Juneteenth is a celebration that commemorates the announcement of the abolition of slavery in Texas in June 1865, and more generally the emancipation of African-American slaves throughout the Confederate South. President Lincoln had written the emancipation proclomation a few years prior, but Union troops finally got word to slaves in Galverston Texas, that they were free. That was on June 19th. This June 19th, make your way over to Bed-Stuy Restoration Plaza to celebrate with dance from Kowteff African Dance, and vendors and a strong cultural vibe.

The Juneteenth Celebration will feature dynamic performances by professional and local arts groups, a Fitness and Wellness Expo (with resources, consultations, and classes), natural hair show, children's dance class and activities, outdoor house party with DJ JUAWANDI, and African Marketplace with some of the best vendors in town. It ain't the old Tunnel, but it's just as fun

TunnelVision, The Archway Under the Manhattan Bridge (57 Pearl St), 4pm - 9pm, Free (D.U.M.B.O.)

DUMBO Bid, FON Adaptive & BBox Radio for another fun-filled Saturday with TUNNELVISION.

Free and open to the world, TunnelVision brings community, music, dance, and art to the monumental Archway Under the Manhattan Bridge in Dumbo. This summer series features a globally renowned roster of DJs, musical guests, performers, and collaborators who are dedicated to inspire and elevate our minds and spirits. I've yet to hit Tunnelvision, but I heard it's an amazing experience, so you should definitely put it on your weekend itinerary. You can get more info by clicking here, and perhaps hit up their outdoor Yoga class.

Get Higher Baby
Get Higher Baby

Higher Ground, Our Wicked Lady, 153 Morgan Avenue, 2pm-9pm, Free

The Get Summered crew is gonna do it to you on a roof, and I'm sure you'll love it. A quality lineup of DJs will keep you rocking at Our Wicked Lady, a multi-use space for the Brooklyn artist community and their friends, and a space that was rated top 10 best rooftop bars, by gothamist. The Funk, Soul and R&B sounds just right for a day party, so expect these guys to bring out the choice cuts.

If you want more information about the flyer, click here and get yourself to Higher Ground.

We Want Free

Freedom Party, 638 Second Avenue (Industry City Landing Court), 6pm-11pm (Sunset Park)

This party has been going for a long time and it's still growing. I remember it in it's infancy, at a few locations around Manhattan. In fact, they say that THE FREEDOM PARTY® NYC is the longest running Friday-night dance party in NYC history. For over 13 years, they've brought thousands of people together under one roof, on one dance floor, to sing and dance and celebrate life and love and be free. Recently awarded "Best Dance Party 2015" by Village Voice, Freedom raises the roof off its historic dance floor and hosts a weekly summer outdoor dance party in Brooklyn at the brand new Landing Courtyard at Industry City!

Sounds like it could be some epicness involved in your weekend, if you go to the Freedom Party. Clicke here for more information

Mermaids Are PeopleToo
Mermaids Are People Too

Mermaids After Party, The Keep, 205 Cypress Avenue, 7pm-4am, Free (Bushwick)

This is going to be a fun party, after the Mermaid parade, out in Coney Island. Junxion has a series of buses going to the parade and also taking people back. The buses leaving Coney Island go straight to The Keep, who's opening the downstairs for this event, which should be pretty dope. It's so much stuff in The Keep to look at, courtesy of co-owner Stephanie Castillo, that y'all eyeballs will have a ball and you'll probably Instagram a few things, like the chopper motorcycle...yeah, it's a motorcycle inside The Keep !

Junxion and Tropic Of Bass have a serious line up of DJs that will be rocking on both floors and it's a five dollar, shot and beer special to make the pain of losing the Mermaid Parade, go away. Click here for more information, via their FB event page.

SUNDAY

Play In The Day...Day Play
Play In The Day...Day Play

Day Play, Velvet Lounge, 174 Broadway, 12pm-6pm, Free (South Williamsburg)

This is the Market lounge for all the visitors and vendors at Brooklyn Makers Market and will be open the same hours as the market. Shopping can be tiring and stressful, even if you're buying from really cool makers and vendors, and often a chance to sit and relax on comfortable couches, have a signature cocktail, listen to great DJs (like me), while also watching the Euro 16, 3pm game, with matches between Romania vs Albania and Switzerland vs France.

It's directly across the street from the Williamsburg Savings Bank and will be the perfect place for some Day Play this weekend. Click here for more information, via the FB event page.

So there you have it, now get out there and get it!
