Beginning on July 15, 2016, The Brooklyn Museum will host one of the most comprehensive collections of sports photography to date.  Who Shot Sports: A Photographic History, 1843 to the Present, is guest curated by distinguished photographic historian Gail Buckland and will be on display until January of 2017.  Showcasing over 230 different selections by more than 170 talented photographers, the series highlights the emotion behind some of the greatest moments in recent sports history.

Sports photography presents a specialized level of expertise, which can showcase a fleeting moment in time in extreme detail.  As visitors peruse the exhibition, they will be introduced to the different forms of sports photography and the influence that these images have had in recent years.

The exhibition is carefully divided into sections that focus on themes like, the beginnings of sports photography, the Olympics, solo and team sports, portraits, life off the field, and of course, fans.  The Who Shot Sports: A Photographic History, 1843 to the Present exhibition will also offer visitors a chance to purchase the companion book published by Alfred A. Knopf, which provides even more insight into the stories behind some of the most iconic sports moments of our generation.
