A group of undercover officers in the Clinton Hill section of Brooklyn have been focusing on a wide range of illegal activity around the area's public schools.  According to a recent report, the operation dates back to September 2015 after investigators received a plethora of concerned complaints from residents in the community.  Most of the drug transactions took place within a 1,000 feet of a school near Atlantic and Gates avenue.

"These defendants have been charged for allegedly dealing crack-cocaine, heroin and other drugs in broad daylight and near schools and houses of worship in total disregard for the children and people who attend them," said Brooklyn District Attorney Ken Thompson.

The sting operation yielded seven arrested after undercover officers were able to conduct 48 purchases of crack-cocaine, heroin, Klonopin, marijuana, and other illegal substances.  Some of the drug transactions took place in broad daylight in the early morning hours when school children were mere feet away.  The presence of a school when drug activity is in the area can often lead to a much more harsh sentence and additional related charges.  The defendants received a host of charges that included criminal sale of a controlled substance in or near school grounds, second- and third-degree criminal sale of a controlled substance, as well as third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance.
