The nation turned to New York City on Tuesday April 19, when the registered NY voters took their turn in the presidential election primaries.  Republic candidate Donald Trump took New York voters by a landslide, garnering a staggering 60.4% of the votes and 89 delegates.  On the democratic side, Clinton took the important nomination after winning 58% of the votes and 139 delegates.

Donald Trump was quick to give an excited victory speech where he discussed his campaign and how his rivals faired against his future plans.

“We’re going to end at a very high level and get a lot more delegates than anybody projected, even in their wildest imagination,” Trump told an eager crowd of supporters after election results were announced.

While the wins are surprising to some, early statewide polls accurately predicted that Trump and Clinton would take New York by a reasonable margin.  Donald Trump, a Queens-born New Yorker, was expected to dominate in his home city as voters made pledges to his campaign and his conservative rhetoric.  Trump took his speech to the next level, stating that the race was practically over before it started.

“We don’t have much of a race anymore, based on what I’m seeing on television,” Trump said during his victory speech, adding that “Senator Cruz is just about mathematically eliminated.”
