Attention! Attention! Attention, busy, urban dwellers who live on demand: There's a new kick in town!

It's called FoodKick, a mobile-first food delivery business by FreshDirect launched Thursday, bringing residents of Central Brooklyn groceries and freshly prepared meals within one hour. Local elected officials gathered for the ribbon-cutting at FoodKick's headquarters in Williamsburg.

"Great fresh food has always been the core of our business," said Jason Ackerman, FreshDirect's co-founder and CEO. "FoodKick extends that passion to a growing consumer base, serving up exciting food solutions and tailored ideas every time a customer opens the app."

FoodKick will curate and rotate new food finds and solutions for the on-demand consumer, including meal hacks, food and alcohol pairings, farm-fresh seasonal produce, pantry staples and home essentials.

In addition to meals, fresh produce, meat, seafood and specialty items, FoodKick will feature a growing selection of new and limited-time offerings from partners such as Cocktail Courier, Indie Fresh, Hungry Root and Mille-feuille. An in-house culinary team also will prepare made-to-order sushi, meat and seafood.

FoodKick is available on the Apple Store. For more information, visit www.FoodKick.com.
