Over the course of the fall-winter season, Haiti Cultural Exchange in Crown Heights will present a series of public programs around the theme Revolisyon/Revolution to mark the revolutionary spirit of Haitian people and their continuous quest for liberty and autonomy.
HCX's signature An n' Pale | Café Conversations, public forums, workshops, performances and film screenings will educate and engage diverse audiences while presenting original programming that showcases the multifaceted ways that artists, dancers, filmmakers, musicians, raconteurs and writers are deploying the concepts of revolution and liberty.
The series will culminate on Saturday, February 6 and Sunday, February 7, marking the 30-year anniversary of the fall of the Duvalier regime in Haiti.
Lavi Miyò | Dance Performance and An n' Pale featuring Veroneque F. Ignace

Veroneque F. Ignace, was born and raised in East Flatbush, Brooklyn, and is a recent graduate of Williams College. Dedicated to combining her passion for Haiti, people, medicine, and dance in such a way that allows for large scale healing, Ignace focuses on the notion of healing through creative productions and the concepts of trauma and recovery for black people in America and the Diaspora.
Lavi Miyò, a work in progress, focuses on resistance as a step toward recovery and utilizes writing, choreography and music to explore essential questions regarding the emotional, physical, spiritual, and psychological stability of individuals affected by trauma.

Revolisyon/Revolution Season Finale
Sunday, February 7th, 2016 | 2-8pm
Revolisyon/Revolution culminating event will feature a staged reading by Haitian Diaspora Artists from the book Create Dangerously: The Immigrant Artist at Work by Edwidge Danticat, a tribute to Manno Charlemagne by Obed Jean-Louis & special guests, a panel discussion, and a film screening of the Agronomistby Jonathan Demme. The documentary follows the life of Jean Dominique, who ran Haiti's first independent radio station, Radio Haiti-Inter, during multiple repressive regimes.
